Katie Padilla, MSW, BCBA

Owner

The founder, owner and executive director of Behr Therapy is Katie Behr, who is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Katie first earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. At that time, she started working at an early childhood special education center in Missouri which served children with developmental disabilities. There is where she fell in love with Applied Behavior Analysis.  Katie went on a to complete her BCBA coursework through Florida Institute of Technology and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2016. Katie has over 10 years of experience working within the disability community and also over 8 years in the field of applied behavior analysis. She has a wide range of expertise including, parent training, school consultation, behavior reduction, functional communication training and Skill Based Treatment and verbal behavior. In her spare time Katie enjoys spending time with her 3-year-old daughter, Louisa and husband.  She also enjoys mountain biking, reading, nutrition and fitness.

Hannah Nurnberger, MS, BCBA

Hannah has shared her expertise with children and young adults with developmental disabilities and their families since 2006. She works alongside parents/adult caretakers to address the needs of her clients who range in ages 18 months – 25 years. Hannah has previously worked in private practice and at various residential, outpatient, educational, and in-home settings.

Hannah is a passionate advocate for her clients, their families, and future generations of certified clinicians. To quote the famous Psychologist, B.F. Skinner, “A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.” Hannah persists when others are at their wits end, offering encouragement, support and new skills to generate renewed enthusiasm.

From 2017-2022 Hannah was an instructor for Rogue ABA from where she conducted the Tackle the Task List course and where she mainly tutored graduate students seeking a certification in the field of ABA.

Hannah resides in Denver, CO with her husband Joshua and her two sons. She was raised in Wyoming and attended the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She then went on to earn a masters’ degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at Ball State University and then became a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2017.

Hannah loves to spend time with her family, drink coffee for daaaayyyyyssss, and get outside as much as possible! Currently, life is a simple one…but filled with so many blessings.

Hannah Embree, BCBA

Hannah has been in clinical practice for 17 years and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2014. She is most passionate about service, collaboration, and practical functional support for individuals with disabilities and their families, teachers and caregivers.

Hannah earned her Master's in Early Childhood Education from UC Denver and became certified in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). She has worked extensively in homes, schools, many community settings, and in clinical settings with infants, the elderly and all ages in between.

Hannah is a founding clinician and board member of what has become the nonprofit Partners for Special Education in Bulgaria (PSEB) since 2012. She and her family regularly travel to Bulgaria to train and support staff who work with people with disabilities there. She is passionate about the de-institutionalization, human rights and learning of all people with disabilities and neurodiversities.

She draws upon functional contextualism, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and current practices in trauma informed care. Hannah believes in directly supporting families and caregivers to increase access to whichever community an individual with disabilities might be part of. She cares about practical and  functional growth and learning that is meaningful and driven by clients' values. She is disinterested in rigid and outdated ABA practices and is an advocate for change in the field.
